Hydro residential / Acreage
Hydroseeding is becoming a popular means of planting grass due to its relative ease of use, cost and effectiveness. It is the process of spraying a specially mixed slurry comprising of water, seed, mulch, fertilizer plus a binder all in just one operation. Once sprayed, the
wet fibre mulch will help create a bond to the soil and provide the seeds with a water retaining blanketing-coat while protecting it from sunlight, wind, and erosion. As the grass seeds begin to germinate, the fibre mulch and fertilizer will slowly decompose adding nutrients to the soil and produce a lush green lawn in very short time.
Our customers are surprised how inexpensive it is to have a truly outstanding lawn.
Why Our Customer Choose to Hydroseed?
At a fraction of the cost of sod and labour, hydroseeding saves money. Plus, it takes significantly less time to get the job done.
Results are seamless. Literally, unlike sod there are no dried or rolled up corners. No dead spots. The seams in sod can take up to a full season to grow in and disappear. Hydroseeding creates a uniform, continuous mat that covers your lawn. When the young roots take hold they stay in place and mature as strong vigorous plants. When sod matures, the roots are cut and the sod is transplanted to your lawn. What plant do you think is stronger?
Hydroseeding is not the instant lawn that you get with sod, but with patience you will have a stronger, lush lawn. Hydroseeding typically takes about 1 week to start germinating and by the 3rd week you should have to mow for the first time. After that it will get thicker week
after week, creating a lawn that neighbours will be envious of.
When our customers did the math, they figured hydroseeding was 27% of the cost of sod on a typical residential lot. The savings to an acreage owner or other large area is even greater.
What to look for when choosing a hydroseeder:
- Ask what the mixes and seed count are compared to the industry? This ensures the thickest lawns.
- Ask if they maintain lawn after its growing?
- Do they know the grass fits in with the rest of the landscape? Can they take care of other aspects of the landscaping? Like, planting trees, Bobcat work, drilling post holes, hauling and spreading soil, or manage the whole project.
Can you Hydroseed Existing Lawns?
The great thing about hydroseed is that it is not just for new lawns. Hydroseed can be used to renovate or overseed an existing lawn as well. Homeowners who are not happy with their existing lawn can simply cut the grass short and have hydroseed sprayed right over the existing
lawn. It will fill in weak spots and create a healthier overall lawn.
Wildflowers for acreages and parks
Grass seed isn't the only type of seed that can be applied by hydroseeding. Wildflowers can be hydroseeded for a burst of color. Wildflower seed can be selected for full sun, shade, or part shade conditions. Wildflowers make a wonderful transition from a yard to a wooded area or
in community areas of subdivisions. They will self-seed, creating a display for years to come. Wildflowers are typically hydroseeded in the fall or early spring.
Hydroseeding is safe and non-toxic to kids, pets and the environment.
